It was precisely these needs that the second joint project between ZDOROVI and GlobalGiving, which concluded in May 2026, was designed to address.

Over the course of a year, the project helped strengthen the capacity of medical teams in 55 healthcare facilities across eight regions of Ukraine — from Kherson and Zaporizhzhia to Chernihiv and Sumy. To ensure that doctors could continue providing necessary care to their patients, the ZDOROVI team purchased and delivered 7,560 units of medications, equipment, and medical supplies worth nearly UAH 20 million.

One of the key areas of focus was supporting psychiatric care. For medical teams in eight regions of Ukraine, we procured more than 6,300 packages of medications for the treatment of schizophrenia, depressive disorders, bipolar affective disorder, and epilepsy, with a total value exceeding UAH 2 million. These procurements allowed specialists to ensure continuous treatment for thousands of patients with mental and neurological disorders.

The need for such medical assistance remains extremely high. As a result of the war, the number of people requiring psychological and psychiatric support has risen significantly, particularly among internally displaced persons, veterans, and those who have survived occupation or the loss of loved ones. For many patients, continuity of therapy is critical to maintaining a stable condition and the ability to lead an independent life.

A separate initiative focused on supporting mothers and children. Medical teams at maternity hospitals and perinatal centers received medications worth approximately UAH 2.9 million to provide care for women and newborns in critical condition. Specifically, carbetocin, albumin, and tranexamic acid — medications used to stop postpartum hemorrhage, one of the leading causes of maternal mortality worldwide — were supplied. Another procurement included Curosurf, a medication used to treat premature infants with immature lungs. Thanks to these resources, doctors have gained additional capacity to save the lives of mothers and infants.

Modern rehabilitation equipment worth approximately UAH 2.1 million was procured for specialists who work with people recovering from trauma, strokes, and injuries. The equipment includes gait trainers, rehabilitation systems, specialized exercise machines, and mobility support systems. On a daily basis, this equipment helps patients regain mobility, independence, and quality of life after injuries and illnesses. Some of the equipment was donated to facilities that work with children with disabilities and complex neurological conditions.

Supporting people with chronic diseases has also been a key focus. For medical teams, we purchased electrocardiographs, blood pressure monitors, biochemical analyzers, spirometers, pulse oximeters, oxygen concentrators, blood analyzers, defibrillators, and cholesterol monitoring systems worth a total of UAH 2.9 million. This equipment has expanded the capacity for diagnosing and monitoring patients’ conditions. For many residents of small communities, it means the opportunity to undergo necessary examinations close to home, without spending additional time and resources traveling to regional centers.

Equipment for emergency medicine and surgery was also procured, including kits for complex trauma surgeries, a portable ultrasound machine, and state-of-the-art simulation manikins for training medical personnel. Today, this equipment, with a total value exceeding UAH 1.1 million, helps surgeons, traumatologists, and emergency medical personnel save lives every day following rocket attacks, traffic accidents, and combat-related injuries.

All medications, equipment, and medical supplies were procured and delivered by the ZDOROVI team in accordance with approved procurement procedures and the requirements of current Ukrainian legislation. This ensured the transparent and effective use of donor funds and the timely delivery of essential resources to the facilities that needed them most.

As is customary, following the completion of procurement and aid delivery, the ZDOROVI team conducted monitoring visits at 30 medical facilities across eight regions of Ukraine. The results of the monitoring were highly positive, with an average score of 2.99 out of a possible 3. At the time of the visits, medical teams had already used 47% of the purchased medications, once again confirming their critical importance for patients. At the same time, the war continuously affected project implementation. Some monitoring visits had to be conducted online due to the security situation in frontline regions.

Over more than four years of full-scale war, Ukraine’s healthcare system has learned to operate under extremely challenging conditions. However, its resilience depends largely on partnerships that help medical professionals continue providing care and ensure that patients have access to the treatment they need. The second joint project between ZDOROVI and GlobalGiving is precisely such a partnership. We are grateful to GlobalGiving for their trust and continued support of Ukrainian healthcare.

At the same time, we are already launching a new phase of cooperation — the third cycle of procurements, which will run from 2026 to 2027 and will allow us to continue strengthening the capacity of medical teams while ensuring that thousands of patients across Ukraine have access to essential treatment, diagnostics, and rehabilitation services.
